With the information and updates around Coronavirus/COVID-19 changing daily I wanted to share our own perspective on upcoming archery events and of course to share the links from NHS, World Health Organisation, the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, Archery GB and Department for Culture Media and Sport.
There are a few archery events coming up in the calendar and whilst none have been postponed or changed there remains the possibility of this should the virus risk reach a level where facility providers or national bodies such as those named above intervene to postpone or cancel. If we hear of any such action likely to affect the archery community we will of course share it with members immediately.
We attended a UK Anti Doping session last week where the Deputy Chief Medical Officer for Scotland gave a briefing on COVID-19 and the advice we received there still stands which is paying attention to those things we can control such as scrupulous personal hygiene (with particular focus on hand washing) and maintaining “social distances” of up to 2 metres where possible.
For those who are travelling please consult the FCO advice here (https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice) to check the status of any country you are travelling to or passing through on your journey.
NHS Guidelines around effective actions to prevent any spreading of the virus are here - https://www.nhsinform.scot/coronavirus
WHO information relating to COVID-19 can be found here (https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019)
In the meantime, please do stay safe by applying the measures mentioned above and by the national agencies – and also by keeping an eye on club mates, friends and family.
