Scottish Archery is looking for a new Chair and appoints new Chief Operating Officer

Our current Chair, Vincent Bryson is standing down after the AGM on 23rd November. Therefore we are looking for a new Chair.

The Chair has a strategic role to play in representing the vision and purpose of Scottish Archery.  They ensure that the Board functions properly, that there is full participation at meetings, all relevant matters are discussed and that effective decisions are made and carried out.

We are keen to encourage members to consider taking on the role as Chair. We would particularly like to encourage applications from women and members of ethnic and disabled groups to increase the Board diversity. The post will also be open to non-members to apply as the Board can be made up of 4 Independent directors and once Vincent steps down we will have 3.

The Chair role profile is available here and to apply please complete this Nomination form. The deadline for applications is Saturday 14th December 2019. The nominations will then be made available for members of Scottish Archery to review and the membership will vote for your preferred applicant to become Chair. This vote will take place at an Extraordinary General Meeting on 25th January 2020 (venue to be confirmed and advised to membership as soon as possible). We would encourage all members to attend or send in your proxy vote in order to have your voice counted in shaping our organisation.

Vincent is standing down as Chair, as he will be taking on the role of Chief Operating Officer from 1st December. He was the successful applicant from the selection process which was advertised on the 13th September. Vincent was selected by 2 Board members and a senior representative from sportscotland, from a number of applicants. The Chief Operating Officer is responsible for managing the Scottish Archery staff. We currently have three members of staff, Jacqui (Administration and Child Wellbeing & Protection Officer, part time), Alan (Pathways Manager, full time) and Bill (Club Development Officer, part time). The role is also responsible for delivering against the Scottish Archery strategic plan available here. The role is part time, (35 hours per month) and is paid from Scottish Archery reserves and membership fees.

The upcoming AGM is the opportunity for members to hear about the plans and programmes of work that Scottish Archery is undertaking and to get to know Board members and staff. Please make every effort to attend the AGM on the 23rd November.
