Due to numerous changes to the possible hosts, the date for the European Commonwealth Championships has had to be reconsidered this year and has resulted in a clash with the Scottish Outdoor Championships. Revising the date is not an option due to record status application deadlines and a number of other factors.
Scottish Archery values all opportunities to promote our sport but is firmly behind supporting our tournaments and the clubs who host them. It is important that we do not devalue our own national championships nor deny our members the opportunity to compete for a national title.
Scottish Archery will therefore not be sending a team to this year's European Commonwealth Championships.
We will be working in partnership with the other governing bodies to reform this competition over the coming years in order to avoid similar complications arising in the future, and to further strengthen the European Commonwealth Championships as a valuable platform to promote our sport.
