We know that coaching encourages people to start in sport and physical activity, improves enjoyment, maintains engagement, improves fitness, develops skills and builds lifelong connections to sport and activity.
This means that coaches, leaders and instructors play a critical role in the development of any sport or activity, and in the lives of the people they coach. Good coaches ensure participants have positive experiences, so they are more likely to continue and achieve their potential.
We are really keen to encourage more people to become coaches and work with Archery GB to arrange courses for Scotland. This includes the Session Coach Level 1 which is a starting point for archers who want to deliver motivating training sessions for beginners. Using the resources provided on the course you will be able to deliver a pre designed course for a group of beginners. This course trains individuals to be able to lead archery sessions independently using resources from the course and working with groups of up to 12 people.

Archery GB Level 1 Session Coach
Modules 1-4 are online, on Zoom (7-9pm – 16 hours total with each module 2 x 2 hour sessions) and Modules 5-6 (approx. 9-5pm) are in person with venues likely to be in Aberdeen and Montrose:
Module 1/6 - 30th July & 6th August (7-9pm) - 25-CJ-32 - Starting Your Coaching Journey
Module 2/6 - 3th & 20th August (7-9pm) - 25-EA-32 - Empowering Archery (Part 1)
Module 3/6 - 27th August & 3rd September (7-9pm) - 25-IT-32 - Introduction to Technique
Module 4/6 - 10th & 17th September (7-9pm) - 25-CE-32 - Creating Engaging Sessions -
Module 5/6 - 18th October (1 day) - Using Your Coaching Skills (TBC - likely be Montrose or Aberdeen)
Module 6/6 - 15th November (1 day) - Supported Practice & Coach Presentation (TBC - likely be Montrose or Aberdeen)
