Junior National Indoor Championship - 2nd December 2017

The top junior archers in the UK all gathered in Stoneleigh Park to compete for the title of Junior National Champion, in their own classifications and to represent their countries, supported by parents and family who traveled from all corners of the uk.

The Scottish Junior Team was made up of 4 recurve archers : Joe, Heather, Caitlyn and for the first time Cameron, also 2 compound archers; Matthew, and for the last time Robyn as she will be too old next year.

On the day it was difficult to get the team together before everyone shot, as everyone on the team were shooting at different time slots. However they all showed great team spirit supporting each other.

Individual scores on the day were good for Scottish Archery Members achieving 3 podium places;

Recurve U18  - 3rd place for Joe Seez his first year shooting in this age group, scoring a 575.

Compound U18 - 3rd place for Robyn Geddes with a score of 559, who was very pleased to get a podium place on her last junior indoor shoot as she will be competing as an adult next year.

Compound U18 - 3rd place for Matthew Wong also his first year shooting in this age category, with a score of 574

The other team members shot well;

U18 Heather Hughs placing 6th, with score of 547, also Heathers first year in this age group.

U16 Cameron Radigan placing 21st with a score of 518, Cameron’s first time shooting for Scotland and first JNIC.

U14 Caitlyn Aiken placing 21st, with a score of 418, unfortunately Caitlyn had to retire at 48 arrows ensuring she didn’t further aggravate a sore shoulder.

These scores were accumulated and secured a 3rd place for Scotland in the national indoor championships, England taking 1st place followed by Wales in 2nd Ireland finishing in 4th place.

It was a great turn out and each Nation fielded a full team.

A huge well done to these young athletes, great to join them on their sporting journey.
