First Aid Training Course

With some demand from coaches and club volunteers for First Aid, we have decided to organise a Emergency First Aid at Work Training Course.


Our training provider Stewart First Aid Training is a specialist in the provision of Workplace First Aid Training for many of the UK's leading companies.  They are one of the largest Workplace First Aid Training providers in the UK and have been providing HSE Approved Workplace First Aid credentials for over 22 years.

Date: Saturday 2nd December 2023


Time/Duration: 9:30-16:30 (6 hours)

·        9:30-12:30

·        Lunch (12:30-13:30)

·        13:30-16:30


Location: The Academy of Sport & Wellbeing - UHI Perth, Crieff Road, Perth, PH1 2NX


Cost: £70 per person


Catering: Please note there is no catering on site.  There are vending machines including hot drinks on the ground floor.  It is recommended that you bring lunch with you but also there is a Tesco approx. 5 min drive from the college.


Who should attend:

Those who have been identified to act as the first aider in low risk environments.  Ideal for coaches and club volunteers.

To attend you must be 16 years or older

Course Outline:

This course is comprised of 6 hours of teaching which includes both theory and practical elements. The topics covered, including the course assessment, meet the requirements for Emergency First Aid at Work certification to meet the requirements of the HSE Health & Safety (First aid) Regulations 1981.

Following successful completion of the course the learner will receive a FAIB Accredited, Stewart First Aid Training Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) certificate which is valid for 3 years. Please note learners must be physically able to carry out practical procedures required to meet all learning objectives.

At this time within the course, advice will be given in relation documented guidance surrounding the administration of first aid from the Resuscitation Council (UK).

Please note that the HSE strongly recommend annual refresher training to prevent first aid skills fade.


Course Content:

·        Understand the role and responsibilities of the first aider

·        Recording and reporting of accidents and incidents including RIDDOR

·        Contents of a first aid kit (including prevention of cross infection)

·        Assessing the situation and acting safely, effectively and promptly in an emergency.

·        How to administer first aid to a casualty who is/requires

·        Unconscious

·        Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)and AED

·        Choking

·        In seizure

·        In shock

·        Bleeding

·        Minor cuts and grazes

·        Minor burns and scalds
