Commonwealth Championships 2022

We have received promising news that the Commonwealth Championships will be going ahead as planned in Chandigarh, India next January (2022). This allows us to move forward with our plans for this event.

The event was originally awarded on the basis of all medals achieved being part of the final medal table at the main Commonwealth Games in Birmingham later in 2022. Part of this award included the hosts agreeing to pay for travel and accommodation for teams attending. We are moving forward on the basis that this is still the case, however if this doesn’t happen it will require significant self funding for athletes and reduce the support team we are able to send.

We are making the following assumptions ahead of January 2022. Prior to travelling to India we would expect that everyone travelling will have received a full course of the vaccine. There will be COVID testing available prior to departure both in Scotland and again when leaving India. There won't be a requirement to quarantine on arrival in India or on return to Scotland.

If any of the above change then it may adversely affect our ability to send a team.

The Championships are planning to offer the following events:

Men’s Recurve (Individual and Team)

Women’s Recurve (Individual and Team)

Men’s Compound (Individual and Team)

Women’s Compound (Individual and Team)

There is also the potential for Mixed teams in both Recurve and Compound.

The logistics and planning for any International event and training programme can be extremely complex and even more so in the current climate. Therefore we are really keen to gauge interest now while we still have some opportunity for a short lead in to the event. This will help us to build a programme of training and support that gives the team the best possible chance of success.

We are keen to hear from you if are interested in being selected for the Championships as an athlete and we are also interested to hear from anyone interested in being part of a support team (Team manager, coach).

We look forward to hearing from you, if there any questions please reach out to us.
