If you have never been to the National Indoor competition you are missing out.
It’s the biggest tournament of its kind in the UK Archery calendar.
The venue of Stoneleigh is eight times bigger than our own Royal Highland Showground and the hall is vast.
The bright lights and noise make it an exciting place to shoot.
You mingle with the best in the sport and get to see some great kit.
The efforts shown by both the junior and senior teams just to get to Stoneleigh was above and beyond.
Saturday saw the junior team gather in full kit for a quick photo and then straight through to the shooting line. All were eager to get things under way and settled in quickly.
After 30 arrows there was a comfort break, and then onto the final 30.
All archers put in a great performance and makes the third place more than acceptable.
I am sure with the next year of hard work in front of them we will be a force to be reckoned with next time round.
From the team we had James Tocher take podium 3rd in the Junior Gentleman U16 Compound.
Other Scottish archers to podium were.
Heather Hughes 3rd Junior Ladies U18 Recurve
Jonathan Ralston 1st Junior Gentleman U12 Recurve
Mathew Wong 1st Junior Gentleman U18 Compound
Eleanor MacDonald 1st Junior Ladies U12 Barebow
Sunday was a day not to be forgotten.
Senior Team Archers gathered to kick off at 11:00 but things were running late and had to hang about for a further hour but this did not unnerve them.
Solid shooting was the order of the day. And the team did not disappoint.
A real mix of experience and caps on paper, But on the line everyone held it together.
With a wink and a nod from the Welsh manager I was congratulated on having the winning Recurve Team and the 2nd Compound Team for Scotland.
From the Team we had Gilbert Jamieson podium 1st in Gents Recurve.
All in all a great weekend for Scottish archery and one I will never forget.
The commitment and talent on display was second to none.
