The competition was fierce at Ayrshire Athletics Arena for this year’s East Ayrshire Care Home Olympics!
The event, which was organised by East Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership and Scottish Care, invited staff and residents from care homes across East Ayrshire to compete in a variety of sporting activities, including archery, basketball, football darts and bean bag bowls.
The 2023 event was a great success and this year’s was no different! It was fantastic to see so many care home residents having fun together while being physically active.
Robert Clark, Communities & Workforce Development Officer stated when reflected on the day:
''This our 2nd year at the event and it was great to see 14 different care homes take part in the wide range of sport. The archery was busy all day, I had a chance to speak to carers and off the back of the event we have secured training for the carers to take into the care homes as a weekly activity. This will allow the residents to continue to enjoy archery in their care home and support their physical and mental health''.
