India to host Commonwealth Championships for Archery and Shooting.
Scottish Archery welcomes the news of Archery’s inclusion alongside Shooting in the 2022 Commonwealth Games. It presents a fantastic opportunity to showcase the sport ever further and Scottish Archery has been working with key stakeholders in Commonwealth Games Scotland and our majority funder sportscotland for some time to ensure we can prepare potential athletes and support staff appropriately for this level of competition if Team Scotland choose to send a team.
Given the event is less than 2 years away there is some significant work to be done and most of this will be outside the public domain regarding any logistics, travel and support services we will look to deliver as any squad or team prepares for such an event. I understand there may be a keenness to have lots of information up front but please rest assured we will share any new information at the most appropriate time.
What I can share is we will be looking to discuss with the stakeholders mentioned above at the earliest possible opportunity our performance plan which of course involves accelerating some activity into the next phase (2021-2025) of our strategic plan. We have always tried to be flexible and adaptable to new opportunities should they present themselves and this is exactly that - a new opportunity to compete at a major event and also build a robust performance development pathway as part of our overall shaping of the sport for years to come.
I look forward to sharing more with you over the coming months.
